Spring Orientation

  • Spring Orientation Freshmen Schedule

    A detailed schedule will be provided to students at check-in.

    Wednesday 1/6

    10:00 a.m.  - Check-in to your residence hall

    12:30 - 3:00 p.m. - Program Check-in
    Check-in for Spring Orientation will be held on the 2nd floor of the Smith Center for Undergraduate Education (CUE). Click here for a campus map.

    12:00 - 2:00 p.m. - Pick up your Cougar Card
    You will need your cougar card to eat and gain access to campus resources.

    2:00 – 4:00 p.m.  - Mathematics placement exam

    Please note:  Calculators are not allowed. A $25.00 testing fee will automatically be billed to your student account if you take this exam (this fee pays for the testing service and is not included within your orientation/matriculation fee). Click here to see if you need to take this exam.

    4:15 – 8:00 p.m.

    • General Welcome
    • Meet your orientation counselor and eat dinner
    • Evening Workshops

    Thursday 1/7

    6:45 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. - Breakfast

    8:00 - 10:00 a.m. Writing placement exam 
    Please note: Your results will be available the day after your test, when you register for classes with your advisor. A $13.37 testing fee will be billed to your student account (testing fees are not included in the orientation/matriculation fee). Click here to see if you need to take this exam.

    10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. - College Costs 

    11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Suceeding Academically at WSU

    12:00 - 1:00 p.m. - Lunch 

    1:00 – 5:00 p.m.

    5:00 – 6:00 p.m. - Dinner 

    6:00 p.m. - 7:00 pm - Transitions

    Friday 1/8

    6:45 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. - Breakfast

    6:45 – 7:30 a.m. - Breakfast

    7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. - Morning and afternoon activities

    • Faculty advising session
    • Obtain your Cougar Card (WSU identification)
    • Lunch with your orientation counselor group
    • Tour of campus and resources
    • Register for Classes

    Complete attendance through the program is required in order to register for classes.  Failure to attend orientation sessions and presentations will prohibit students from registration.
